Lilly Partnership in Diabetes Achievement Awards

The Lilly Partnership in Diabetes Achievement Awards are an annual recognition programme that celebrates the inspiring achievements of people of all ages who live with diabetes or who have contributed to the lives of others with diabetes. Those recognised do not have to be well known or famous for their achievements, they can be everyday people who have accomplished or are achieving outstanding things.

In June Finlay was nominated in the Young Champion section of the Awards. An independent board reviewed the applications at the end of October and we got a phone call at the beginning of November to let us know that in fact the board wanted to give both Alan and myself the Adult Achievers Award for our care and management of Finlay's diabetes. It has come as a complete shock to us; as far as we are concerned we are just doing what any other parent would do in our situation but it is an honour to receive the recognition of all our hard work over the last 8 months.

Today we met up with the representatives from Eli Lilly for an informal presentation where we received a cheque for $1,000, a certificate and some flowers :o)
